Man Dies In Lockup At Jefferson Park District Police Station

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 41-year-old man died at the Jefferson Park District Chicago Police station after being arrested Tuesday night on the Northwest Side.

Johnny Lopez was in custody at the 16th District station at 5151 N. Milwaukee Av. when he was found unresponsive in the lockup area about 8 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Paramedics responded and tried to revive Lopez, but he was pronounced dead at the station at 8:20 p.m., authorities said.

An autopsy on Lopez, who lived in the 4600 block of North Monticello Avenue, was inconclusive Wednesday, and did not rule on cause or manner of death, pending results of toxicology tests.

Area North detectives are investigating.
