Bears Sign CB Tracy Porter To A 1-Year Deal

(CBS) The Bears have signed cornerback Tracy Porter to a one-year deal, they announced Monday morning.

Porter, 28, spent last season with the Redskins but only played in three games because of a shoulder injury. He started all 16 games for the Raiders in 2013, recording 53 tackles and two interceptions.

Prior to that, Porter played for new Bears coach John Fox in 2012 when both were in Denver. He spent 2008-'11 in New Orleans, where new Bears general manager Ryan Pace worked in the front office.

Porter has been injury prone in his career, playing more than 12 games only in 2011 and 2013.

Porter's most famous for picking off a fourth-quarter pass of Peyton Manning in Super Bowl XLIV and returning it 74 yards to seal the win for the Saints.

Porter figures to compete for a backup cornerback role.
