Police Are Asking For Help Identifying Woman Who Called 911 For Help In LaPorte County

(CBS) -- The LaPorte County Sheriff's Department is asking for help from the public in finding a woman who called 911 yesterday afternoon and then disappeared, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.

Just after 4 p.m. Friday, a woman called into the LaPorte County 911 Center and said she was at the Harley Davidson store and that she needed help. A male voice is then heard on the recording and the phone became disconnected.

The phone did not have an identifying return number. Police went to the Harley Davison dealership and the neighboring Honda dealership on US 421 just south of I-94 and the city limits of Michigan City where they located the phone, but not the woman.

Police say there was no SIM card in the phone and the last number dialed was 911. Video surveillance covering the area where the phone was located was not working.

Police are asking that anyone who recognizes the woman's voice, which can be heard in the audio below, or saw something to call Captain Pat Cicero at 219-326-7700 extension 2404.
