Tree Planted In Oak Lawn Park In Honor Of Emily Beazley

(CBS) -- It's a stirring tribute to a girl who captured the hearts of many people in Chicago and around the world.

Last month, 12-year-old Emily Beazley died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

A salon collected money and had a tree planted in her honor. It was dedicated Sunday.

The tree is in Memorial Park in Oak Lawn, where Emily used to love to play.

"For this to be here for when we come to this park with our other child to remember Emily and see this tree and watch it grow is amazing," said Ed Beazley, Emily's father.

Many people supported Beazley during her four-year battle with cancer. A street was named after her and she got to throw out the first pitch at a Sox game.
