After The Bell: Stocks Surge As Overseas Concerns Fade

After The Bell

(CBS) -- Stocks surged higher on Friday as concerns about Chinese financial markets continued to subside and hopes of a resolution in Greece put traders in a buying mood.

The NASDAQ gained 75, the S&P 500 added 25 and the Dow Jones industrial average closed up more than 211 points, settling to 17,760.

"The middle of this week was just astounding on how crazy the stock market sell-off was in China and you throw Greece on top of it, it makes your head spin," Andy Busch, editor of the Andrew Busch Update, says.

He also noted that global stock market volatility is likely to continue next week.
