12 Wounded In Tuesday Shootings
CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least 12 people were wounded in shootings across Chicago on Tuesday.
The latest shooting happened about 9:50 p.m. in West Englewood, where a 19-year-old man was walking in the 1700 block of West 61st Place when he heard gunshots and realized he'd been struck in the leg, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition after the shooting, which police said was gang-related.
A couple hours earlier, a 19-year-old man was shot in the shoulder in the Hyde Park neighborhood. It happened at 7:52 p.m. in the 5200 block of South Drexel, police said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
Three people were shot in the Brighton Park neighborhood less than 20 minutes earlier. About 7:35 p.m., the three males — ages 17, 18 and 19 — were outside in the 2800 block of West 38th Street. The 17-year-old was shot in the arm and the 18-year-old was shot in his side, police said. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. The older man was shot in both legs and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was also listed in good condition.
About 6:45 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot while riding in a vehicle in the 6600 block of South Langley in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side. He was driven to the University of Chicago Medical Center and later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
Thirty minutes earlier, a 20-year-old man was shot in the 7200 block of South Champlain in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
Just after 5 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Rogers Park on the North Side. He was outside in the 1600 block of West Sherwin when a gunman opened fire, hitting him in the abdomen and leg, police said. The gang-related shooting sent him to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition stabilized, police said.
About 3:30 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the 0-100 block of East 102nd Place in the Roseland neighborhood. The man was taken to Christ Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was in good condition, police said.
Tuesday morning, a man was shot in the back in Roseland on the Far South Side. The 21-year-old victim was shot about 10:45 a.m. in the 11400 block of South Prairie and taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition has stabilized, police said.
Tuesday's first shooting left two people wounded in Auburn Gresham on the South Side. About 2:30 a.m., the 50-year-old man and 60-year-old woman were sitting on a porch in the 8300 block of South Kerfoot when someone got out of a vehicle nearby and fired shots, police said. The shooter then jumped back into the vehicle, which sped away. She was shot in the chest, buttocks and abdomen and was taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center. He suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where his condition was stabilized.
