Dang, Chicagoans Swear ... A Lot

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Gosh, folks around here do like their foul language.

Jack Grieve studies words for a living and, dagnabbit, he has us pegged.

Grieve, a lecturer in Forensic Linguistics in the School of Languages and Social Sciences at Aston University in Birmingham, England, analyzed billions of words in geotagged Tweets for "bad" language (some worse than others) and plotted them on a map of the United States.

And, Chicago is pretty consistent when it comes to having a potty mouth.

Here are some of the highlights. (In the interest of decorum, we haven't included every word analyzed, but rest-assured, Chicagoans basically use them all.)

The darker the orange on the map, the more likely the words are being used.

The East Coast needs to wash its collective mouth out with soap.
