Cubs Make Series Of Roster Moves, Place Reliever Neil Ramirez On 15-Day DL
(CBS) The Cubs made a series of roster moves Wednesday before their afternoon game against the Rockies.
Chicago called up right-handers Yoervis Medina and Ben Rowen from Triple-A Iowa, placed right-hander Neil Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list, optioned right-hander Dallas Beeler to Triple-A and designated infielder/outfielder Mike Baxter for assignment.
Medina, 27, was recalled just a day after being optioned down. His ERA is 7.00 in five relief appearances.
Rowen, 26, has a 1.93 ERA in 34 relief appearances in the minor leagues this season. The Cubs signed him to a minor league deal on July 4, and he has since pitched 9 1/3 scoreless innings at Triple-A Iowa.
Ramirez, 26, was placed on the DL with left abdominal soreness. He has a 3.12 ERA in 13 appearances this season.
Beeler, 26, is 0-1 with a 9.72 ERA in three starts this season. Baxter, 30, has hit .246 with two RBIs in 34 games.
