Police: 2 Dead, 23 Wounded Chicago Weekend Shootings

(STMW) -- Two men were killed and at least 23 other people were injured in shootings across Chicago since Friday night.

Most recently, a man was found shot to death in a West Pullman alley on the Far South Side early Sunday.

The 20-year-old was discovered unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds at 5 a.m. in the 11700 block of South LaSalle, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the death but could not release his name Sunday morning because family had not yet been notified.

The other man killed was one of five shooting victims at a house party early Sunday in the West Side Austin neighborhood, police said.

Two males approached a house party in the 4800 block of West Kamerling about 1 a.m. and fired shots into the crowd outside, police said.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office could not confirm the fatality Sunday morning.

A 21-year-old man was shot in the back and chest and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. A 20-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and was also taken to Sinai, where his condition was stabilized.

Another man, 19, was shot in the thigh, but hospital information was not available, police said. Also, a 24-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the arm and was treated and released at the scene.

A 17-year-old boy was injured in the most recent nonfatal shooting in the Fuller Park neighborhood on the South Side.

The teenager was standing on the corner in the 4300 block of South Wells at 4:57 a.m. Sunday when he heard gunfire and felt pain, police said. He was shot in the groin and taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where his condition was stabilized. Police said the teenager is not cooperating with investigators.

Earlier Sunday, two men were shot and critically injured along the lakefront in the Oakland neighborhood on the South Side.

The men, ages 21 and 23, were sitting on the lakefront near 43rd Street about 3:15 a.m. when two males walked up and opened fire, police said. The 21-year-old was shot in the abdomen and was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.

The older man was shot four times in the abdomen and once in the arm and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was also listed in critical condition.

Shortly before midnight Saturday, a woman was injured in a Washington Park neighborhood shooting on the South Side.

The 31-year-old suffered a graze wound behind the ear in the 5200 block of South Calumet, police said. She was treated and released at the scene.

At least 15 other people have been shot across the city since since 11 p.m. Friday.
