Kevin White's Return Before Bears Break Training Camp Is Uncertain

By Chris Emma--

(CBS) It appears Bears rookie receiver Kevin White is still several weeks away from fully returning from a shin injury that has him on the physically-unable-to-perform list to start training camp.

Chicago coach John Fox is unsure whether White can return prior to the Bears breaking camp in Bourbonnais on Aug. 16, he said after Monday's practice. White suffered the injury late in the team's organized team activities in the offseason.

"I'm looking at it day-to-day," Fox said. "I can't predict. Sooner rather than later is what I hope, but that's just a hope."

The seventh overall pick in this year's draft, White has been doing some rehab work in the pool and working on building up his cardio, Fox said. He's not doing much of anything on the ground or field yet.

"He's making headway," Fox said. "Like I said, he was on the shelf for six weeks. It's a conditioning issue where we want to build up the soft tissue to the point where he can come back out and play football rather than just throwing him out there."

In other Bears injury news from Monday, receiver Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) and cornerback Alan Ball (foot) both sat out practice. Neither injury is considered serious, and they figure to return soon.
