2 Killed, 8 Wounded In Wednesday Shootings
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two men were killed and at least eight other people have been injured in shootings Wednesday on the South and West sides of Chicago.
The latest homicide happened about 11:20 p.m. in Austin.
Officers responding to a crash in the 1100 block of North Central at 11:20 p.m found 27-year-old Pierre Resse shot in the head and unresponsive in the driver's seat of a vehicle, police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
It appeared that after the shooting, the vehicle he was in had crashed into a parked car.
Resse, who lived in the 5100 block of North Latrobe, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. A source said he was a documented gang member.
The day's other fatal shooting happened about 6 a.m. in Auburn Gresham.
Officers found a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest inside a car in the 7500 block of South Damen, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later died.
Authorities identified him as Adarius Hayes of the 8100 block of South Damen.
Thursday's latest non-fatal attack happened about 6:40 p.m., in another Auburn Gresham shooting.
Someone shot a 20-year-old man in the face and chest in the 7700 block of South Carpenter police said. He taken to Christ Medical Center in serious condition.
A little more than three hours before that, a 20-year-old man was shot in the left foot and arm in West Englewood's 6500 block of South Ashland. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
Earlier in the afternoon, two people were shot in Englewood.
About 1:50 p.m., the 18-year-old woman and 28-year-old man were on the porch of a home in the 7200 block of South Peoria when a gunman walked up and opened fire. She was shot in the right ankle and he in the buttocks. Both their conditions stabilized at Christ Medical Center, police said.
Three people were wounded in two South Side shootings minutes apart from each other Wednesday morning.
At 9:15 a.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in the leg in another Englewood attack. The shooting in the 6900 block of South Honore likely was domestic-related, police said. His condition was stabilized at Holy Cross Hospital, and detectives were questioning a person of interest Wednesday afternoon.
About 9 a.m., a 79-year-old woman was shot in the back and an 18-year-old man in the left arm in Woodlawn. The attack happened in the 800 block of East 63rd Street, and their conditions were stabilized at University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.
Wednesday's first shooting happened just after midnight in Lawndale.
A 15-year-old boy was outside in the 4000 block of West 21st Street when he heard shots and felt pain, police said. The documented gang member was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
