Bears Depth Chart: Adrian Amos Listed As 1st-Team Safety, While Brock Vereen Is Demoted

(CBS) There was only one change among the first-stringers in the Bears' updated unofficial depth chart that was released Tuesday, and it didn't come as a surprise.

Brock Vereen has been demoted to being a second-team safety, and rookie Adrian Amos has moved up a line and now is listed among the starters. The change comes after Vereen struggled mightily in Chicago's opening preseason win against Miami last Thursday, as he was late to react to the ball on several occasions, struggled to identify opposing sets and didn't leave much of an impression with his tackling.

A fourth-round pick out of Minnesota in 2014, Vereen had two tackles against the Dolphins. Amos also had two tackles in his first professional game after being picked in the fifth round out of Penn State earlier this year.

There were no other changes among the first-stringers on the depth chart.

Chicago is heading to Indianapolis to hold joint practices with the Colts on Wednesday and Thursday before the teams play a preseason game Saturday.
