Woman Happy Alleged Attacker Behind Bars After Being Harassed On North Side

(CBS) -- A woman who was harassed on a North Side street is happy that her alleged attacker is now behind bars, thanks to her fiancé.

Elizabeth, who doesn't want to give her last name, was forcibly kissed by a man in the Edgewater neighborhood a few weeks ago.

She chased after him and confronted and filed a police report and found out the same man had harassed other women.

Then, on Monday, her fiance saw him and called the cops.

"Sure enough it was him and he was wanted not just by the (Chicago) Police department but by State Police, too," she said.

The fact that the suspect was caught is even more satisfying to Elizabeth because his harassment of her came exactly four years after she survived a brutal mugging in a Lincoln Square alley.

She was not happy with the police response, but this time she says the police have been great.

"They've been so wonderful and so helpful and really understanding."
