Listen: Thomas Jones Joins Laurence Holmes To Talk Acting Career, Bears Memories
(CBS) Former Bears running back Thomas Jones is making quite the transition in his post-football career.
He's aiming to make it as an actor in Hollywood. So far, his pursuit is going well. Jones had a small role as a bodyguard in "Straight Outta Compton," which had a huge box office opening, bringing in $56.1 million in its weekend debut, per reports.
On Wednesday night, Jones joined 670 The Score's Laurence Holmes to discuss "Straight Outta Compton," how he caught the acting bug, how his Hollywood experience is going and much more.
"It's very subjective here in Hollywood," Jones said. "Football is very black and white. Either you made the play or you didn't. Either you can make the play or you can't. It's right there for the world to see. As an actor, there's so many different elements to this world. There's a lot of political situations that play a huge part in it. There's a lot of opinions that really matter in Hollywood. if the right person says 'yes,' your world can change.
"There's a lot of actors who aren't as talented as other actors who are superstars. There are great actors who just don't get the opportunity because of the political implications."

The 37-year-old Jones last played in the NFL in 2011. He played for the Bears from 2004-'06 and was a member of Chicago's NFC champion squad that lost to Indianapolis in the Super Bowl following the 2006 campaign.
