Welder May Have Been Victim Of Mistaken-Identity Killing

(CBS) -- What looks like a case of mistaken identity has left a young welder dead.

Friends and family say Isaac Acevedo worked two jobs and was the role model in his family.

As CBS 2's Dorothy Tucker reports, he just became another victim of street violence.

Acevedo was fatally shot while riding in a car. His girlfriend was driving and told family members that when she stopped at the stop sign, a car she suspected was following them pulled beside them. Someone opened fire.

The 23-year-old victim was on his way home from his one of two jobs. He was a welder by day and worked at Walgreens at night. Relatives say he'd worked long hours for years just to buy a house for his mother.

As the oldest of three, Acevedo was the perfect big brother to his younger sisters.

The gang-like shooting leads police to believe the suspects are gang members and Acevedo may have been the victim of mistaken identity.

Relatives say Acevedo was in the process of saving to buy a second home for himself and his girlfriend.

Police are still looking for the shooter.
