CHICAGO (CBS) — A woman was killed and two men were wounded in a shooting outside a liquor store in the Austin neighborhood early Friday, and the survivors could face criminal charges.
Police said three people were in a car outside Lake & Cicero Ice House liquor store, in the 300 block of North Cicero Avenue, when they got into an altercation with someone inside a second vehicle.
Someone in the first car opened fire on the second vehicle, police said. Two security guards approached, and the shooter turned his gun on them.
The security guards returned fire, and shot a 25-year-old man, a 21-year-old man, and a 21-year-old woman in the offenders’ vehicle, police said. The other vehicle fled the scene.
The 25-year-old man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition. He had been shot in the shoulder and through the cheek.
The other man and the woman were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. The woman had been shot twice in the head, and later was pronounced dead. The 20-year-old man was shot in the hand, and his condition was stabilized.
Police said charges were pending early Friday.
