Watch: Kris Bryant Hits Walk-Off Homer, Is Hilariously Escorted To Home Plate By Pedro Strop

(CBS) After the Indians tied the Cubs 1-1 with two outs in the top of the ninth inning Monday afternoon, rookie third baseman Kris Bryant sent the Wrigley Field faithful into pandemonium in the bottom half.

With two outs, Bryant deposited a Zach McAllister pitch into the right-field seats for his second career walk-off homer and 20th blast of the season. It moved the Cubs to 72-51, a season-high 21 games over .500, and was the team's fifth straight win. The Cubs have won 20 of their past 24 games, their first 20-4 stretch since 1945, according to Comcast Sportsnet's Christopher Kamka.

Chicago now has a 6.5-game lead over San Francisco for the second NL wild-card spot and trails Pittsburgh by 2.5 games for the right to host the wild-card game.

The most hilarious part of Monday's ending was Cubs reliever Pedro Strop escorting Bryant from third base to home plate on his walk-off homer trot. Strop was going crazy.

Bryant then predictable got drenched in his postgame TV interview.
