Investigators Get More Video In Fox Lake Cop Killing; Motorola Offering $50K Reward

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The FBI has been given several surveillance videos that might show the suspects in the killing of a Fox Lake police officer earlier this week, as Lake County authorities continue the search for the killers.

A day after revealing police had obtained "significant" video from the home security system of a resident near the scene where Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz was killed, Lake County authorities said they have been given several other videos that might show the killers.

"We are still reviewing a substantial amount of video," Lake County Major Crimes Task Force Cmdr. George Filenko said. "We've been contacted by a number of sources overnight who have also provided some video that we didn't even realize was out in the area."

That video includes recordings from traffic cameras supplied by the Lake County Department of Transportation, which handed over videos from intersections near where Gliniewicz was killed, in case those cameras might have recorded images of the killers.

All of the videos supplied to Lake County authorities have been turned over to the FBI, so it can put all the recordings in chronological order, Filenko said.

Although Filenko would not say if the videos show all three suspects, he said "we have images of people that we believe are subjects that we'd be interested in talking to."

Filenko said he has not viewed the videos yet, and was not prepared to provide a more detailed description of the suspects, who so far have been described only as two white men and one black man.

The videos include recordings from homes and businesses in the area; both before and after Gliniewicz was killed.

"We're optimistic about all of these videos right now, because they all come together chronologically," Filenko said "They're not separate. They're not independent. There are different cameras that are putting a storyline together."

Filenko also confirmed Gliniewicz's gun was found near his body, although he would not say if the gun had been fired, or whether it might have been the murder weapon.

Meantime, Schaumburg-based Motorola Solutions has pledged $50,000 as a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Gliniewicz's death.

"The fatal shooting of Lieutenant Gliniewicz was a horrible act against a public servant who put his life on the line every day for 30 years to protect the people of Fox Lake. While the loss of every first responder is a tragedy, this occurred in an area that many of our Motorola Solutions employees and their families call home," Motorola Solutions vice president Ali Kapadia said. "My local team worked with Lieutenant Gliniewicz, and respected his tireless leadership, and commitment to enhancing public safety."

Lake County Sheriff's Det. Chris Covelli said several other businesses have made similar offers to pledge money for a reward. Anyone wishing to contribute can call the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The FBI also has set up a tip line and website for people to provide information about the case. Anyone with information about the shooting can call 800-CALL-FBI or go to www.fbi.gov/foxlake to provide tips, photos, or video.

Known to the community as "G.I. Joe," Gliniewicz was shot and killed Tuesday morning, after radioing that he was investigating suspicious activity, and had begun chasing three suspects. A few minutes after other officers arrived on the scene to back him up, they found Gliniewicz's body in a marshy area near U.S. Route 12 and Sayton Road.

Visitation for Gliniewicz has been scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m. at Antioch Community High School, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Both will be held in the school's auditorium.
