Report: Everyone Present At Patrick Kane's Home On Night Of Alleged Rape Has Been Subpoenaed

(CBS) Everyone who was present at Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane's home in Hamburg, N.Y., on the night he's accused of raping a woman has been subpoenaed, WGRZ-TV in Buffalo reported Friday.

It's unclear exactly how many individuals have been subpoenaed, but previous reports indicate Kane returned to his house in the early morning hours of Aug. 2 with a friend, the alleged victim and a female friend of hers. They were driven there from SkyBar by Buffalo Police Lt. Thomas English, a longtime driver for Kane who was off-duty at the time.

On Thursday, WGRZ-TV reported that the female friend had been subpoenaed to appear in front of a grand jury.

Kane hasn't been charged in the case as officials with the Hamburg police and the Erie County District Attorney's Office continue to investigate. Kane has met with investigators in the presence of his lawyer, the Buffalo News has reported. The accuser went to the hospital on Aug. 2 and had a rape kit administered after the alleged sexual assault.

The Blackhawks open training camp Sept. 18 and will be faced with a big decision of what to do with Kane on that date if the investigation is still ongoing. They have remained almost completely silent as the investigation is being conducted, though captain Jonathan Toews on Thursday indirectly commented to a Winnipeg radio station about the situation.

You just have to have confidence that things like that will resolve themselves over time, and for the time being, you stay together as a team and you support your teammate or teammates that are maybe going through a rough patch," Toews told TSN 1290.

"We saw it last year with some rumors that spread around through social media about several guys in our locker room," Toews added. "It's not the first time we've seen situations like that. Eventually, you just deal with it internally, you stay together as a team, you're confident that as individuals and as a group everyone kind of stays together and at the end of the day we always say to each other what was said and what was done in the locker room is the only thing that really matters."
