The 2015 Chicago Bears Are Horrible: Analysis

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Bears coach John Fox's mantra of "understate and over produce" will certainly be put to the test with the season opener just days away.

Analytically speaking, it is indeed hardly an understatement to say that the team stinks.

Perhaps that will make it easier for this team to "over produce"--because the 2015 Chicago Bears have no place to go but up, according to an analysis by the FiveThirtyEight blog.

Among its division rivals, the Bears are the least likely to make the playoffs (11.5 percent chance). Compare that with the Green Bay Packers, who are practically a lock at 83.5 percent.

What is especially alarming about that number: Neither the Lions nor the Vikings really have a prayer of making the postseason either, FiveThirtyEight found.

FiveThirtyEight predicts the Bears will win 6.5 games.

Obviously the team can't win a half game, but you get the idea.

The analysis also found that the Bears defense the past two years was the worst in franchise history.

That might not come as a shock, until you look at actually how bad it was, going all the way back to the 1920s.
