John Fox Offers Next To No Detail On Jay Cutler's Injury Status
(CBS) It remains a complete mystery as to whether Bears starting quarterback Jay Cutler will play in Sunday's road contest against the Seahawks.
A day after Cutler suffered what the team has called a strained hamstring in the second quarter of a loss to the Cardinals while trying to make a tackle after he threw an interception, coach John Fox offered one nugget and nothing else on how Cutler's doing.
"Anytime it's not really severe, it's good news," Fox said.
Past that, everything's a question mark. A starting quarterback hasn't been decided upon yet for Week 3, Fox said, and the Bears will further update Cutler's status Wednesday.
Asked if Cutler had an MRI, Fox didn't confirm anything.
"I'm not going to get into all the tests, but that could've been one of them," Fox said.
Fox was unsure of whether Cutler will practice Wednesday. The Bears listing the injury as a strained hamstring has raised some questions, as Cutler took a hard fall on his shoulder on the play and didn't react as if anything was wrong with his lower body.
The Bears haven't decided whether they'll add another quarterback to the active roster, Fox said. David Fales would be the likely option, as he's on the practice squad.
As for receiver Alshon Jeffery, Fox said he didn't know how close he was to playing in Sunday's loss to Arizona and indicated he doesn't know his status moving forward either.
