Warm Start To Week, But Cold Front Brings Fall Temps Starting Tuesday

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicagoans can savor one more day of summer-like temperatures before more seasonable fall temperatures settle in for the rest of the week.

The normal high for September 28 is 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, and it was already 68 at Midway by 6:15 a.m. Monday's high was expected to reach about 80 degrees, which is closer to normal for mid-June or late August than the end of September.

However, there will be a big shift in temperatures on Tuesday, as a cold front moves through. The high Tuesday will reach only about 67, and temperatures the rest of the week will stick in the low to mid 60s during the day, with lows around 50 at night.

Monday will see a chance of some scattered sprinkles. Tuesday will have a better chance of showers as the cold front moves in, but the rest of the week should be dry.
