Cubs Fans Celebrating Wild-Card Victory Over Pirates

(CBS) -- Chicago Cubs fans all around the Chicago area are celebrating after the Cubs defeated the Pirates, 4-0, in the National League wild-card game on Wednesday night in Pittsburgh.

Fans spilled out into the streets around Wrigley Field to celebrate and jump up and down. Police shut down Clark and Addison to allow fans to pack the streets. "Go Cubs Go" could be heard blasting at HVAC Pub and bars all around Wrigleyville.

Cubs superfan Stewart McVicar celebrated with friends in his souped-up Cubs "Man Cave." The basement is called the "400 Club" for the number of feet to center field at Wrigley and is decked out in Cubs paraphernalia, including a Cubs sign from Wrigley Field that used to hang near the Ernie Banks statue.

"We're coming back to Wrigley Field on Monday," McVicar shouted.

McVicar uses the space to hold fundraisers that have raised $75,000 for charity.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel released a statement after the Cubs' victory.

"Congratulations to coach Joe Maddon and the Cubs, who tonight had our city holding its collective breath until the final out," it read. "In less than 48 hours, they will carry Chicago's spirit and support with them to St. Louis as they continue what has been a magical season. Cubs' fans are patient -- there's no doubt about that -- but Friday can't come soon enough. Until then, #FlyTheW!"

The Cubs will now take on their rival St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night in St. Louis in Game 1 of the NLDS.
