Ten Students Hurt After Pepper Spray Discharge At West Side School

(CBS) -- Ten students from a West Side elementary school were injured after pepper spray/mace discharge Wednesday afternoon, according to Chicago Fire Media.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. at Oscar DePriest Elementary School at 139 South Parkside Ave. in the Austin neighborhood.

Chicago Police say they responded to reports of a physical altercation and that a female student sprayed pepper/spray/mace. A 13-year-old female student was taken into custody, police said.

All ten students were transported in good condition to Loretto Hospital and west suburban hospitals.
