Lisle Police Fatally Shoot Man In Response To Reported Home Invasion

(CBS) -- Lisle Police fatally shot a man in response to a reported home invasion early Saturday morning, police said.

Police responded to a call of a person attempting to break into a home in the 4400 block of Yender Avenue at approximately 5:13 a.m. The woman who lives in the home called police after hearing someone trying to violently kick down her front door.

Two officers arrived at the home to find the man was armed with a weapon. After an electronic control device was ineffective, one of the officers shot the man, police said.

The 35-year-old man was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where he later died.

The resident of the home was unharmed and three officers from the Lisle Police Department were treated at Edward Hospital and later released.

The Illinois State Police Zone 1 Investigations unit is investigating the shooting in conjunction with the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office and the DuPage County Coroner's Office.
