Cubs Fans Not Waiting To Snap Up NLCS Tickets

(CBS) -- It's a waiting game for Cubs fans as they won't know until Thursday night who their beloved team will play in the National League Championship Series.

But that isn't stopping some fans from trying to score some tickets and make travel arrangements, reports CBS 2's Dana Kozlov.

The Cubs won't be back at Wrigley Field for almost a week, so, not surprisingly, fans are trying to go to them.

Ticket broker Steve Buzil is already fielding requests for the next round, and prices are starting to rise.

"The series coming up, you're looking to get in for a seat is probably about $500 and anywhere up to $2,500," he said.

But Buzil says local demand isn't just for the NLCS games at Wrigley Field that will be played next Tuesday and Wednesday and perhaps Thursday.

"I've got customers all over the country, so they've already booked a couple planes," he said.

They'd have to, considering those willing to travel will either head to Los Angeles or New York but won't know which until the Dodgers and Mets finished Game 5 on Thursday night.

Travel agent Kathey Green-Siewert says fans can buy two tickets now and get their money back.

"We would issue the tickets to both coasts tomorrow and then we would have 24 hours to cancel the ticket that they don't want to use," she said.

But where oh where do Cubs fans want the team to wind up? Los Angeles, land of the fit, the tan and the stars?

"The Dodgers are just a solid team and they've had a great season," Cubs fan Ashish Bhatia said. "They're a lot more experienced than the Cubs, so I think that's going to be the biggest challenge."

Or someplace more meaty like New York City?

"The Cubs are going to play the New York Mets in the NLCS, and I think they're going to beat them," said Isaac Work, owner of New York Delicatessen.

Of course, we don't want to jinx anything, but Cubs fans hoping to score face-value World Series tickets, if they get to the World Series, must register online with the Cubs by this Friday.
