Six Flags St. Louis Renames Roller Coaster After Cubs Thanks To Twitter Bet

(CBS) "Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut."

This famous Ernest Hemingway quote -- which, let's face it, is probably fake -- always reminds me of Twitter. If people used Twitter sincerely, only saying the things they were literally willing to do in real life, the Internet would be a much more civilized place.

Thankfully, the Twitter account for Six Flags St. Louis fulfills the promises it makes. Even when the dreaded Cubs are involved.

On Oct. 9 and 10, Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Il., and Six Flags St. Louis, which is located in Eureka, Mo., butted heads.

The cause? The National League Division Series between the Cubs and the Cardinals. Obviously.

It started with trash talk, as most bets do, with Six Flags St. Louis displaying a message likely to annoy any Cubs fan.

Things escalated, and soon, as a bet was made between the two Six Flags. If the Cardinals won, the Chicago-area Six Flags would name a ride after the Cardinals. But if the Cubs won, every baby girl born in St. Louis would henceforth be named Arrieta and every baby boy would henceforth be named Schwarber.

Wait, no, that's not true. I made that up.

If the Cubs won, Six Flags St. Louis would have to name a ride after Chicago's favorite baseball team (at the moment at least).

Sure enough, the Cubs won, and unlike most Twitter bets, Six Flags St. Louis fufilled its end of the deal.

I now present you with the Cubs Thunder roller coaster.

Impressively, they even changed the details for American Thunder on their website.

"At first glance, Cubs Thunder looks like a classic wooden roller coaster, with mind-blowingly complex architecture rising 82-feet high over the park," the description page for the Thunder reads.

Though, for those who don't know about the bet, they do clarify what exactly's going on at the bottom of the description:

"American Thunder is operating as Cubs Thunder during the remainder of the 2015 season to make good on a bet placed with sister park, Six Flags Great America, during the National League Division Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs."

You gotta hand it to them, trash talk or not, they're really following through with this bet.

Can't wait for the Cardinals to play the Cubs next year...
