Kris Kringle Haus In Orland Park Staying Open For One Last Christmas

(CBS) -- This is the last Christmas for the Kris Kringle Haus in Orland Park, reports WBBM's Veronica Carter.

Jim and Cleo Gierucki have been selling all things Xmas since 1990, first in downtown Geneva, then moving to Orland Park in 2006.

Neither had any retail experience when they started it but they did have one big thing in common. Jim says they're nuts about Christmas.

"On our honeymoon in '84 in Germany, we went into a Christmas shop and saw all these European things we'd never seen and thought, 'What the heck? Let's go do something crazy and go into the Christmas business' and we did."

Gierucki says after 26 years they've decided to retire. The set-up and seven day work weeks from September until the end of the year has
become too much for them.

As to what they'll do once the store is closed, he says they have no plans, except they'll finally have time to set up a Christmas tree at home.
