Cubs Down 0-2, But One Young Autograph-Seeker Is All Smiles

CHICAGO (CBS) -- This Cubs-Mets series brings out the kid in all of us.

In fact, one pint-sized fan camped out at Wrigley Field left the players with a few smiles.

CBS 2's Marissa Bailey reports that while the Cubs are down 2-0 in the NLCS, fans say they expect that to change when the Cubs play at home Tuesday night.

A handful of fans turned out to get just a glimpse of Cubs players as they headed into practice Monday. It was magic for little Isaiah from Wichita, Kan., who decided on this visit to Chicago that he was a Cubs fan. His family says that the rest of them are all Kansas City Royals fans.

Isaiah was the only kid at the Cubs players' entrance Monday asking for autographs, and he got them, including from Starlin Castro, Kyle Schwarber and manager Joe Maddon. Isaiah was the only person Maddon stopped for.

Maybe it was the orange cast or his angelic face, but either way Isaiah hit the jackpot.

Twelve people signed his hat, and Isaiah says his favorite player is the fourth one that signed. That would be third baseman Kris Bryant, who told Isaiah it was a good time to be a Cubs fan.

As for the autographed hat, dad says he'll buy him a new one to wear every day.

"He can't wear this one, not allowed to," he said. "This one is worth way too much. He doesn't even know. I gotta protect him from himself."

The lesson learned in all of this: Come down here and ask, you never know who will stop and offer an autograph.
