(CBS) It ended in ugly fashion, but the Cubs still had quite the season in their first season of under the direction of manager Joe Maddon.

Chicago won 97 regular-season games, topped Pittsburgh in the NL wild-card game and defeated rival St. Louis in the NLDS. Jake Arrieta is a leading Cy Young candidate, and Maddon is the favorite to win the NL Manager of the Year award. It's also a lock that Kris Bryant will be named the NL Rookie of the Year.
