Despite Summer-Like Temps, It's Starting To Look More Like Christmas

(CBS) -- The temperature may be running 15 degrees above the norm, but at Macy's on State Street, they gotta do what they gotta do. The famous tree in the Walnut Room is being decorated for its lighting this Saturday and generally, around the store it's beginning to look a lot like…well, you get the idea.

Looking up from the ground floor to Macy's beautiful mosaic ceiling will get you in the spirit of the season. Here's a tip: Get up close to the State Street windows for a sneak peek at this year's displays.

Despite the early November warmth, there are reminders of the season everywhere you look, like the base being put in place for the city Christmas tree, soon to be in Millennium Park while workers break a sweat in the heat.

A Zamboni waits for ice to groom at the park's skating rink, opening November 13, something to do before enjoying a hot mulled wine at the growing Christkindlmarket starting November 20.

It's hard to believe that Dicken's Christmas Carol opens at the Goodman in less than two weeks. I love the season, but thinking about the end of these summerlike temps makes me wanna say bah humbug!
