Mercifully, Ryan Raburn May Not Torment The White Sox As Often In 2016
(CBS) There was big news regarding the White Sox that broke Wednesday, and it had nothing to do with the team declining a $10 million option for 2016 on longtime shortstop Alexei Ramirez.
Perhaps more importantly (judge for yourself), the fellow AL Central-dwelling Cleveland Indians declined to pick up a 2016 option on outfielder/designated hitter Ryan Raburn.
Why is this such a big deal? Because Raburn owns the White Sox in a manner that's nearly unrivaled. Time and again, he has tormented the South Siders, dating back to the start of his career in 2004 with the Tigers.
Raburn has 82 career homers. Of those, 20 have come against the White Sox.
Raburn's career batting average is .256. His career batting average against the White Sox is .296.
Raburn's career OPS is .758. His career OPS against the White Sox is .872.
Of Raburn's 322 career RBIs, 82 have come against the White Sox. That's 25.5 percent of his career total against one team. It's here that we should note that 17.1 percent of his career plate appearances have come against the White Sox.
