Hundreds Of CPS Students Protest Continuing State Budget Impasse

(CBS) – The state's main office building in Chicago was the scene of a major demonstration Friday as hundreds of students protest budget and staff cuts within the Chicago Public Schools system.

About 350 students – most from the city's selective-enrollment high schools – walked the perimeter of the James R. Thompson Center in the Loop, chanting, "Save Our Schools!"

The students were complaining about the continuing state budget impasse that threatens to drive mass layoffs at CPS, CBS 2's Vince Gerasole reports.
