The Shedd Aquarium's Latest Addition: A Rescue Dog

The Shedd Aquarium's latest guest isn't a fish, but a dog.

Though she has no gills, Peach, the Shedd Aquarium's latest rescue dog, has been given permission to stick around.

Peach is a 10-month-old daschund/terrier mix and is joining three other rescue dogs at the Shedd.

The Shedd Aquarium runs a rehabilitation program for rescue dogs. Through positive reinforcement, the Shedd provides constant care for all their rescue dogs. Once their training is over, the Shedd's rescue dogs are adopted out to loving families.

Peach, like all of the Shedd's rescues, is named after a Finding Nemo character. After she was found tied to a dumpster, the Anti-Cruelty Society brought her to the Shedd hoping she was a good fit for their program.

Despite her abandonment and the large scars on her back, the Shedd says that Peach is "very sweet and interactive with people and playful with toys inside Shedd's dog lounge..."
