Woman Files Federal Lawsuit Claiming CPS Teacher Hit Her Son Because He's Black

(CBS) -- A woman alleges in a federal lawsuit that a white Chicago Public Schools teacher hit her son because he's black, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.

The suit was filed by Nairobi Henson who claims that a teacher at Horace Mann Academy hit her nine-year-old son in school last November. The teacher had been questioned by the principal, the suit says, and admitted he hit the student as said, "Sue me."

According to the suit, the boy suffered from anxiety, nightmares and depression as a result. It alleges his civil rights were violated by the teacher. The suit does not explain why the mother believes the alleged incident was racially motivated.
