Three Wounded, Two Seriously, In Austin Shooting

(STMW) -- Three men were shot in the West Side Austin neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, leaving two in serious condition.

Two of the men, ages 21 and 39, were standing on the southwest corner of Lamon and Rice about 3:30 p.m. when a black SUV pulled up and someone inside started shooting, according to police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney.

The younger man was shot in the arm and leg, and the older in the hand, Sweeney said.

A 23-year-old man who was standing on the southeast corner was hit in the chest. He wasn't an intended target, police said.

The two younger men were taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. The 39-year-old was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park in good condition.

Investigators think the shooting was gang-related.
