Hundreds Attend Silent Vigil Outside French Consulate To Remember Victims Of Paris Terror Attacks

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Several hundred people took part in a silent candlelight vigil outside the French consulate in downtown Chicago for the victims of the Paris bombings.

There were no speeches, just people carrying bouquets of flowers, candles and hand-lettered signs that proclaimed "We Stand For Peace" and similar sentiments.

Vince Dominguez said the show of support for France was important.

"I am just one person but I think that in this time of pain and suffering we do need to stand together in order to push forward to a much greater cause," Dominguez said.

Eileen Soderstrom wrapped herself in a French tricolor she inherited from her father.
"We have to stand up and fight it and stop it," she said.

Soderstrom says all those she knows in Paris are fine but knows that for some, that's not the case.
