1 Killed, 19 Wounded In Weekend Shootings

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was killed and at least 19 other people were wounded in shootings across Chicago between late Friday afternoon and Monday morning.

The homicide happened Saturday afternoon in the the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.

At 12:30 p.m., Eric Jordan, 25, was walking in the 1600 block of West Howard when someone walked up and shot him, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Jordan, of the 4600 block of North Racine, suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and back, authorities said.

He was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 1:04 p.m., the medical examiner's office said.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened early Monday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

The man, 28, was found on the sidewalk in the 5400 block of South Paulina about 1:20 a.m. with gunshot wounds to his lower abdomen and left buttocks, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. Police said the man was not cooperating with investigators.

Shortly after midnight, a 24-year-old man was wounded in a North Side Uptown neighborhood drive-by shooting. He was walking on the sidewalk in the 800 block of West Sunnyside when a gray car drove by and someone inside opened fire, shooting him in the right leg, police said. The man was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Late Sunday night, a man was shot in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side. The man, 21, was standing in an alley in the 0 – 100 block of East 100th Street about 11 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, police said. He was shot in the right knee and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.

Two men were shot earlier Sunday afternoon in a drive-by shooting in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. At 3:58 p.m., the men, ages 20 and 21, were standing on the sidewalk near an alley in the 6600 block of South Union Avenue when a white minivan drove by and someone inside fired shots, police said. The 21-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. The 20-year-old man was shot in the right heel and he took himself to St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where his condition was stabilized.

About 90 minutes earlier, a man was wounded in another drive-by shooting on the border of the West Englewood and Back of the Yards neighborhoods on the South Side. The 29-year-old man was outside near 55th and Damen at 2:38 p.m. when someone shot from a passing red minivan, police said. He was shot in the right wrist and taken in good condition to Holy Cross Hospital. Police said the minivan took off in an unknown direction after the shooting.

At least 13 others were wounded in separate shootings between 5:15 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday.
