Derrick Rose 'Extremely Doubtful' To Play Against Suns
(CBS) Bulls point guard Derrick Rose was a limited participate in his team's morning shootaround with a sprained left ankle and is "extremely doubtful" to play in Wednesday night's road game against the Suns, Chicago coach Fred Hoiberg told the Tribune.
Rose suffered his ankle sprain midway through the fourth quarter of Monday's home win against the Pacers when his foot planted awkwardly on a baseline drive. He termed it a "regular" ankle sprain afterward.
Rose has played in all 10 games as Chicago has started 7-3 this season. He's worn a protective mask after having surgery on Sept. 30 on a fractured left orbital. Since then, he's been suffering from double vision, a factor in his 37.7 percent shooting struggles.
Kirk Hinrich will likely start at point guard in Rose's place, the Tribune reported.
"He didn't do much in shootaround this morning," Hoiberg said of Rose, according to the Tribune. "Really just tried to get loose, but he's still got quite a bit of soreness in that ankle. The big thing is we don't want to take any chances at this time of year and make it a lingering issue."
Rose played in 51 of 82 regular-season games in 2014-'15 as he dealt with a variety of injuries, most notably another meniscus tear that required surgery.
After Wednesday's contest, the Bulls next play Friday against the defending champion Warriors.
