New Mexico Beats Loyola, 75-51

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico forward Tim Williams scored 22 points with seven rebounds and the Lobos turned in a strong defensive effort Wednesday in a 75-51 win over Loyola-Chicago.

The Lobos (3-0), who never trailed, broke it open early with an 11-0 run, turning a 4-all tie into a 15-4 lead. Loyola (2-1) never got closer than 9 points the rest of the way.

Williams had two layups in the streak and Sam Logwood, who was perfect from the field to finish with 12 points, capped it with a 3-pointer.

The Ramblers were 19 of 60 from the field, including 7 of 28 in the first half as New Mexico had them doubled up at 38-19 at halftime.

Devon Turk scored 11 to lead Loyola, but he was the only Ramblers player in double figures.

With Logwood going 5 of 5 and Williams 10 of 14, New Mexico finished 29 of 47 from the field. The Lobos were 5 of 13 on 3-pointers.
