Jeff Kiernan, CBS 2 Vice President and News Director, said, "I am thrilled to welcome Sandra back home to Chicago and to the CBS 2 Chicago news team. She is adept at all aspects of news production and has proven herself to be a terrific reporter."

Torres comes to Chicago from Milwaukee, where she was the lead reporter for CBS 58 (WDJT-TV). She also worked for sister station WYTU as a producer and co-anchor for Telemundo Wisconsin.

"Journalism is my passion and my life's work," Torres said. "Like my soon-to-be colleagues at CBS 2, I'm always looking for original stories to tell and I am excited to have the opportunity to do so in the place I call home."

Prior to her time in Milwaukee, Torres worked in Chicago at WMAQ-TV, where she was a morning news content producer. Prior to that, she worked as a general assignment reporter and fill-in weather anchor at WSNS-TV, the Telemundo station in Chicago. While at WSNS, she also appeared on network shows, including Noticiero Telemundo and Al Rojo Vivo.

Torres began her broadcast career at Illinois State University in Normal at TV-10 News, where she anchored, reported and was a photojournalist for the school's television station. After graduating from ISU, she interned for WMBD-TV in Peoria and then worked for the Illinois Center for Broadcasting in Lombard as a television instructor.

Torres, who was born and raised in Colombia, moved to Chicago's northwest suburbs when she was 13 years old. She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, the Illinois News Broadcasters Association and the Chicago/Midwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
