No Charges Filed In Death Of Chicago Lawn Woman

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 23-year-old woman's death inside her Chicago Lawn apartment building Friday afternoon has been reclassified as a death investigation after police initially considered it a homicide.

Officers were called about noon Friday to the building in the 6300 block of South Fairfield Avenue, where they found Quina L. Jackson unresponsive on a couch, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Jackson, who lived on the block where she was found, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounced dead at 1:51 p.m., authorities said.

Police did not say how she died, but they initially said a homicide investigation had been launched. Final autopsy results are pending further investigation, the medical examiner's office announced Saturday.

Late Sunday, police said that the investigation had been reclassified as an ongoing death investigation. A 34-year-old woman who had been taken into custody at the scene Friday was released without charges.
