White Sox Acquire RHP Tommy Kahnle From Rockies

(CBS) The White Sox acquired right-handed reliever Tommy Kahnle from the Rockies on Tuesday, sending minor league right-hander Yency Almonte back to Colorado.

The 26-year-old Kahnle was 0-1 with a 4.86 ERA in 33 1/3 innings for the Rockies last season. He averaged 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings.

Kahnle was originally selected by the Yankees in the fifth round of the 2010 amateur draft.

The 21-year-old Almonte split time between Class-A Kannapolis and Class-A Winston-Salem last season, going a combined 11-7 with a 3.41 ERA in 137 1/3 innings. The White Sox had acquired him in a trade that sent infielder Gordon Beckham to the Angels in August 2014.

Chicago's 40-man roster is now at 37 players.
