Boers & Bernstein Callers Had Epic Suggestions For Bears, Robbie Gould After Deflating Loss
(CBS) Bears Mondays on 670 The Score have been known to bring our the crazy in Chicago sports fans, and the day after Chicago choked away so many opportunities in a 26-20 overtime loss to San Francisco on Sunday, the callers had plenty of theories to share.
Notably, they had advice for kicker Robbie Gould, who missed a 36-yard game-winning field goal at the end of regulation. The snap and hold were on point, and there was no wind.
Here's a list of the suggestions that callers had for Gould and the Bears...
1) From Joe in St. Charles: "I might be crazy, but it looked to me like Robbie Gould was wearing a helmet yesterday that didn't have earholes in it, which I never noticed before, but am I right or am I goofy?"
2) Kendall in Naperville: "I'm wondering, do you kick the field goal on third down there to save the timeout in case there's a bad snap? And the reason I'm saying that is because I wonder if the Bears coaching staff has the wherewithal to do the math, because the only drawback would be, 'OK, you kick the field goal successfully on third down and then you have to kick the ball off.'"
3) Al in his car: "When you got close to scoring at the end, I don't know why we're not going for a touchdown or trying to score as opposed to trying a field goal. Mr. Gould has been deteriorating for well over a year now."
4) Bill in Oak Park: "We need the Chicago Cubs general manager to take over and drag football into the future."
5) Matt in parts unknown: "Quick question regarding Robbie Gould -- is there any chance there's maybe some residual hangover from last year with his injury? That he's still not quite healed or if during his rehab something might have thrown off his mechanics a little bit?"
6) Bill in a Naperville gymnasium: "The thing about Robbie Gould, isn' this skill uniquely quantifiable? Couldn't he just go to Soldier Field as many days as they let him, kick from different distances and if he could do it then, why can't he do it in a game? Have a machine snap the ball to the holder."
