Tollway Officials OK 70MPH Speed Limit For Parts Of I-355, I-90
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Speed limits could be going up for portions of the Illinois Tollway system.
Tollway officials have recommended a 5 mph increase in the speed limit on portions of the Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355) and the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90).
If approved by state regulators, the speed limit would rise to 70 mph on I-355 between I-55 and I-80, and on I-90 between Elgin and Rockford starting next summer.
Some outer portions of the tollway system already have the higher speed limit.
