Black State Lawmakers Say Many Social Agencies Still Suffering From Budget Impasse
CHICAGO (CBS) -- African-American state lawmakers are pleading with the governor and legislative leaders not to forget those who are still suffering under the prolonged budget impasse, reports WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore.
Members of the Legislative Black Caucus brought Cynthia Williams from the Austin Peoples Action Center to the podium to say that despite court orders and bills funding other social agencies, her group is among many that are still unfunded and cutting back.

"We're devastated with what has happened to us and we work very, very hard in our communities to make sure that our clients' needs are met and that our seniors are being seen and that our babies are getting help," Williams said.
Black Caucus Chair State Senator Kimberly Lightford says she's so angry she is moved to tears.
"I'm mad as hell and I want to fight and I cannot understand for the life of me why leadership can't get the job done?" Lightford said.
And all the regular lawmakers can do is speak out.
