Much Calmer Tuesday Weather For Chicago; Temps To Drop Later In The Week
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago area will get a bit of a break to clean up from Monday's messy winter storm on Tuesday, before a slight chance for snow on Wednesday, and then much colder weather will arrive later in the week.
Monday brought a mix of sleet, freezing rain, and snow to Chicago on Monday, with up to 3.5 inches of sleet accumulating in the far western suburbs, and nearly 2 inches of sleet accumulating in the city.
While Tuesday will be mostly cloudy and cold, with a high around 35, there is minimal risk of more precipitation, mainly late Tuesday night.
Wednesday brings a chance for a quick shot of snow in the morning and early afternoon, with light accumulations possible, and then temperatures will turn much colder to close out the week, with highs in the mid to upper 20s on Thursday and Friday, and overnight lows dipping into the teens.
The New Year will start out sunny, however, and temperatures will get a bit better Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the low to mid 30s.
