Patrick Kane Elected Captain For 2016 NHL All-Star Game

(CBS) -- Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane has been elected by the fans to be one of four division captains for the 2016 NHL All-Star Game, the league announced Saturday.

Kane was the leading vote getter for the Central Division. Florida Panthers winger Jaromir Jagr will represent the Atlantic Division, Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals will represent the Metropolitan Division and the Pacific Division will be represented by former Blackhawk and current Arizona Coyotes defenseman John Scott.

Kane has 23 goals and 33 assists for an NHL-leading 56 points in 39 games so far this season.

The All-Star Game will actually be a three-game tournament, with four teams comprised of players representing each division. The format of the games will be three-on-three.

The games takes place Saturday, Jan. 30 in Nashville.
