Indiana Man Suspected Of Killing His Ex-Wife Has Been Found Dead: Police

(STMW) -- A 49-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting his ex-wife at a strip mall Saturday afternoon in Schererville, Indiana was found dead in a south suburban cemetery Sunday afternoon.

Richard James Kalecki, Jr. was found dead in a Calumet City cemetery. The exact cause of his death is under investigation, but preliminary reports from the Cook County medical examiner's office state that he killed himself, according to a statement from the Schererville Police Department released Sunday night.

Alessandra De Moraes-Emiliano was shot about 1 p.m. Saturday at the Edible Arrangements store at 248 W. Lincoln Highway in Schererville, where she worked, according to the Lake County coroner's office and the Schererville Police Department.

The 37-year-old woman from the 6800 block of Pierce Drive in Merrillville was dead at the scene, authorities said.

"Kalecki's death brings an end to the tragic domestic violence homicide investigation of Ms. De Moraes-Emiliano. We have worked very closely with her entire family and they have our deepest sympathies," said Scherervill Police Chief David Dowling in the statement.
