Des Plaines Man Missing Since New Year's Eve

(CBS) -- Police in Des Plaines are searching for a man who has been missing since leaving his home on New Year's Eve.

Justin D. Aspengren, 25, left his workplace in Niles around 3 p.m. in a green, two-door Chevrolet Cavalier with Illinois license plate H773254, his family said.

He was last seen at a bank in Mount Prospect and his mother says records show he made deposited his paycheck. Aspergen's parents say he was supposed to return home from the bank but never showed up.

Earlier in the day, Justin texted his girlfriend to cancel their plans for that night because he wasn't feeling well. Aspergen's cell phone appears to be off and family say they've called it and it goes straight to voicemail.

"It's not been easy," said David Aspengren, Justin's father. "He just disappeared. You know, he got off work. Everybody was saying happy New Year to him at work. His boss said 'I will see you later,' and he said 'yeah I'm going to party,' and from there he went to the bank over on Rand Road, Mount Prospect. We know we deposited his check but that's the last known activity we have of his whereabouts."

Aspengren's family say that even though he is 25, his social skills are more like someone who is 15 or 16 and they fear someone may have taken advantage of him. Police say that they do not suspect foul play.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Des Plaines Police Department (847) 391-5400.
